Yes, if you live in Florida and are at least 18 years old.

Each course has 8 classes offered live over 2 months. The classes are held once a week on the same day and time. Each class is 90 minutes.

We will be using Zoom to host the classes. Once you complete the class sign-up form, you will receive an email with the link to join your class. When it’s time for your class to begin, click on the link to join. You will use the same link every week to join your class.

Yes. When you click on the link to join your class, the Zoom app will download to your computer. If you are on your mobile device and tap on the link to join the class, you will be asked to download the app to your device. You can read more about system and device requirements on the Zoom website.

We ask that you try to attend the course time for which you registered. If your schedule changes, you can make a one-time switch to a class at a different time.

Yes, we will register up to 20 people per class.

The Kislak Family Foundation has provided a grant to make these courses available for free. The classes are taught by trained volunteers. You will not be asked to purchase any books or materials.

No. These are informal English conversation classes and you will not be tested. At the end of the course, we will ask you to complete a survey on what you think about the course and what you have learned.

Yes, you can register and join a class after it has already started. If there are already 20 people registered, you will need to try to register for a different class time.

The classes will help you practice English while learning about life in the USA and services that are available for people who need assistance. These are conversation-based classes focused on topics that are most relevant to our participants. We use videos, vocabulary activities, and speaking practice to model language that you can use in your everyday life.

We ask that you attend at least 6 classes. If you attend 6 classes, you will receive a free course certificate. The more classes you attend, the more you learn.

Yes, absolutely! We will send you information about upcoming courses.

The classes are taught at an intermediate English level. The teachers will be speaking only in English. This course is not for beginners who are just starting to learn English.

Probably not. These online classes focus on learning conversational speaking and listening skills. You will have a chance to practice speaking English with volunteer teachers and other students. Other ESL* or ESOL** classes usually cover more subjects, such as grammar, reading, and writing. Please take advantage of free or low-cost English classes offered in your community.
